“OATS” Online Assessment Techniques & Resources
There are a lot of resources to help you with strategies to assess student learning outcomes called “SLO’s” in online and blended courses.
The Open SUNY Center for Online Teaching Excellence “COTE” created an excellent community resource on assessment and you should view the resources in our NCCC Faculty Assessment Resource Guide.
You want to make sure you explain the course learning goals and student learning outcomes, and how assignments are designed to help student achieve those goals. One way to do this is to make sure the SLO’s are aligned with assignments to accomplish this. You can use this worksheet to help you map out the SLO to the assignments or activities to measure them. This worksheet can help you ensure the course is in alignment with the official college SLO’s listed on the master syllabi.
