Rubrics/ Assessments

What is a Rubric
A Rubric shows how learners will be assessed and/or graded. In other words, a rubric provides a clear guide as to how ‘what learners do’ in a course will be assessed.  (TLC Group Website)

Using a rubric to grade assignments is an educational best practice that fits well with aligning your assignments to student learning outcomes and defines specific criteria and achievement levels so that all submissions are evaluated against the same set of criteria.

Brightspace allows you to use grading rubrics to help you to evaluate assignments and discussions quickly and easily.  Creating a rubric is a simple three-stop process and evaluating is done by point and click. Students are able to review their rubric to see how their work was evaluated.

Rubrics are available to NCCC faculty through our Institution Content Collection.  Faculty have the ability to import a rubric from the collection into their courses and make updates. To view information about the Value Rubrics from the Association of American Colleges & Universities.
